When Julie DeMauro first moved to Revere, she lived less than a mile from the A.C. Whelan Elementary School yet still drove her two children each day. But it didn’t take long for the morning chaos to get her thinking about ditching the car.“Our school at the time was crazy in the morning with parents dropping off and the traffic backed up,’’ she said. “I had a first-grader, a preschooler and a 10-month old baby and I remember trying to get to the school and lug them out of the car.
