Just as students returned to the classroom for the 2016-17 school year on Tuesday, a city official said the state Department of Transportation has given Kingston the go-ahead for the “Safe Routes to Schools” initiative.The project aims to make walking to school safer for children in Kingston.City Engineer Ralph Swenson said the next step will be creating the documentation to formally award the project to Sun-Up Enterprises Inc. of Wappingers Falls, which submitted the low bid of $465,033.To read full story, click here.
