On June 22nd 2018, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf signed a bipartisan budget which included $1 million for the recapitalization of the Pennsylvania Fresh Food Financing Initiative (FFFI).The program was one of only 9 new line items for the FY 18-19 budget, and will be housed at the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED). This statewide program increases access to healthy food retail in lower-income and underserved communities across urban and rural Pennsylvania by meeting the financing needs of fresh food retailers. This reauthorization of FFFI— a program originally created in 2004 —is a result of advocates across the state, many of whom are a part of the Food Forward Pennsylvania Coalition.
