Students will be a little safer walking to school thanks in part to the Ohio Department of Transportation.City crews working most of the summer improving the pedestrian facilities around several of the district's schools. New sidewalks, ADA wheelchair intersection crosswalks, school zone flashers and pedestrian signals at special intersections have been installed to provide a safer route to school. Lima City Engineer, Kirk Niemeyer wants to remind motorists to watch out for children and that the speed limit is 20 miles per hour in school zones.The majority of the nearly 500-thousand dollar project was funded through ODOT's Safe Routes to School program. To read the full story, click here.
