If you look at historical photos of downtown Billings’ streets, you might see people using all types of transportation — walking, bicycling, or even riding trolleys.Cars became dominant after World War II, but recently, a revival of interest in more active modes of transportation has occurred. In 2011, the Billings City Council voted unanimously to adopt a Complete Streets policy, which encourages roads to be built with all users in mind.

What is Complete Streets?

Complete Streets increases the likelihood that everyone can get safely and predictably from one place to another, whether they’re driving, walking, biking or using public transportation. When a street includes a sidewalk, motorists know to look for pedestrians on those sidewalks and at intersections where sidewalks end.For full story, click here.
