In a commitment to the health and wellness of employees and citizens of St. Petersburg, Florida, Mayor Rick Kriseman signed Administrative Policy #090130 to improve the nutrition of foods and beverages sold in vending machines on City-owned and operated facilities. The standards require snacks to contain less than 200 calories (except fruit and nut mixes), lower sodium, no trans-fat, and reduced sugar.

For beverages, 75% of offerings must include water, 100% fruit juice with no added sugars, fat-free or low-fat milk, and other beverages with less than 25 calories per serving. Calorie information will be displayed for both food and beverages, to help make the healthy choice the easy choice for employees and the city’s 250,000 residents. September 2016
