Before October 2014, there was no licensing for childcare centers in Boise, Idaho. To address the lack of support and structure, government leaders and the community coordinated to outline standards that set their youngest up for success. These standards, called the “Healthy Initiatives,” focus on screen time, active play time, healthy meals, and more. For example, they limit the amount of screen time for children ages one to five years to one hour per day.

These new standards are being enforced city-wide, and all compliance or non-compliance will be publicly recorded. This is designed to help consumers decide which childcare centers deserve their business, based on who is meeting the recommended minimum requirements.Read the full story here.
