Voices for Healthy Kids connects campaigns with other leaders in the movement. These leaders offer technical assistance by expertise areas listed below. Please submit a TA Request through our Technical Assistance Portal to request these services. 

The Rudd Center for Food Policy & Obesity at the University of Connecticut

The Rudd Center for Food Policy & Obesity at the University of Connecticut conducts research to inform policy change and advocacy to decrease food marketing to children, reduce sugary drink consumption, improve the nutrition environment in early care and education settings, support student wellness in schools, and promote food security.

The Rudd Center for Food Policy & Obesity can provide timely and policy relevant research and assistance in navigating these reports and tools:

  • Detailed reports on company and brand advertising spending on sugary drinks, fast food, cereal, snacks, and baby and toddler food, and advertising exposure by preschoolers and children, Black and Latino youth, and adults.  

  • A supplement to our sugary drink 2020 report that gives example of social media campaigns targeted to teens and Black and Latino youth.

  • A sugary drink tax revenue calculator to estimate the potential revenue from a proposed tax.

  • A websitedevoted to sugary drinks and a comprehensive analysis of the ingredients, marketing, and on-package claims.

  • The WellSAT 3.0 tool for advocates and local school districts to evaluate the strength and comprehensiveness of district wellness policies. 

Prenatal-to-Three Capacity Building Hub powered by the BUILD Initiative

The BUILD Initiative is a national organization that advances work on behalf of young children from prenatal to five, their families, and communities.

The BUILD Initiative can provide technical assistance around systems and programmatic consultation, technical support, and peer opportunities. Support can include:

  • Peer-to-peer support via the Prenatal-to-Three XChange – an open, online community for discussion, collaboration, and information sharing among PN-3 leaders, advocates, and anyone who is a champion for infants and toddlers.

  • Light-touch support from an early childhood expert who may provide written documents, tools, peer matches or a consultation session on PN-3 systems building. Visit the PN-3 Help Desk to submit a request.
