Communications Planning for Advocacy Campaigns is for campaign staff and communications professionals seeking to increase the impact of their overall campaign strategy through communications strategy. At the end of this workshop, attendees should have a better understanding the basics of developing a comprehensive communications strategy and the beginnings of an integrated communications timeline that incorporates everything from stakeholder and coalition engagement to grassroots and decision maker advocacy to media advocacy. This workshop will be led by Terra Hall, Voices for Healthy Kids Media Advocacy Manager and Shelly Hogan, Field Media Advocacy Director for the American Heart Association.
Participants will be asked to engage in activities during the two 90-minute sessions and have some brief work to complete in between sessions. This workshop will be held on Zoom and to be most effective, participants should be prepared to engage through cameras, microphones and the chatbox. We encourage participants to find a comfortable and quiet space from which to join the two-part workshop through a computer.
