Warren Township Schools starting with the 2016-17 school year will provide physical education options during recess to meet state requirements, according to a statement from Interim Superintendent Elizabeth Nastus.
All public schools in the state are required to provide 150 minutes of physical education for students in grades 1 through 12.
Warren’s fourth and fifth graders are now 75 minutes out of compliance while kindergarten through third grade students fall 100 minutes below the requirement. The district already meets the 150-minute mandate for grades 6-8.
