in Safe Routes
Progress in Minnesota: Governor Dayton signed HF4425, a bonding bill that includes $1 million for Safe Routes to School infrastructure grants!
The $1 million is in addition to the $500,000/year funding MnDOT receives for non-infrastructure projects (e.g., outreach and education). Securing a significant, dedicated appropriation for the State Active Transportation Program, which was established in 2017, continues to be an area of need moving forward to address broader needs for walking and biking improvements across Minnesota.
Additionally, Hennepin County, the most populous county in the state that includes the city of Minneapolis, will invest $6 million new dollars for the Hennepin County Safety Fund to address problematic intersections and help make walking, biking, and rolling safer throughout the county.
Congratulations to the MN for Healthy Kids Coalition and American Heart Association who are working to help all children get active through safer walking, biking, and rolling!
