The Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) has an excellent opportunity for a policy associate to work on school foods.

CSPI is leading the charge to ensure that school meals remain nutritious for the 30 million school children, most of whom are low-income, who participate in the National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs. CSPI helped lead the effort for passage of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, a landmark law that got soda and most junk food out of schools and ensures that school meals provide more fruits, vegetables and whole grains, and less sodium and saturated fat. Unfortunately, this progress is at risk. The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently rolled back some of the school nutrition standards, locking in unsafe levels of sodium and allowing more refined grains. Join us in our work to help protect and strengthen the progress on schools.

Working with the Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs, this position facilitates a coalition and works with advocates to pass state and local school food policies. This position will also support federal legislative, regulatory and litigation activities on school meals.
